Dnd Notes 07-17-22 Ivory Roses
- We get a sense that we are being taken by our captors deeper into the abandoned wing of the school
- They seem to be followers of Shar, and dislike Chauntea and even Infaris
- We get stripped of our weapons and shields. Wilfred's shield is leaning up against the wall with a frowny face
- We are put into cells 6-8ft high with a slanted but open top. A giant eyeball is watching us
- Amity's captors got turned around back in the old house and spend a while messing with the moving stair cases trying to get out
- Wilfred finds some jewelry on a skeleton in his cell
- Valerian summons a dagger and throws it at the eyeball, killing it.
- Mirabelle flys out of her cell and sends her invisible servant to grab a nearby keyring to free the others. As it does so, the hook raises a bit as if activating a mechanism
- The servant tries to free Valerian but dies for some reason
- Valerian reaches around and opens the lock. As he tries to take the key out the key is white hot and starts to melt. The liquid metal burns a significant chunk of Valerian's sealing bandages and he quickly sits down to try replace the bandages before it gets out of control
- Mirabelle lifts Wilfred out of his cage
- Wilfred starts cutting up his vestments to offer as bandages to Valerian
- Wilfred keeps trying to help Valerian who rebuffs his offers
- Valerian successfully reseals his arm
- We decide to head further into the abandoned school wing looking for where they took Amity (not realizing she is actually back behind us)
- Wilfred's faith is his shield
- We come across a flesh golem wearing a tattered suit and monocle. We try to crush him under a sliding door but the door moves WAY too slow
- Mirabelle uses her natal jubilee hat to create a platinum Toblerone that she pockets
- We manage to kill the golem but end the session still in combat
Wilfred's Journal Entry
Excerpt from the personal journal of Wilfred of Ivanhoe
17th of Summertide
The group I have thrown my lot in with was captured and I find myself freshly escaped a holding cell. This white roses group is beginning to show dark cracks where I thought strength shined. Besides capture, I fear one of my comrades, Valerian, has begun to turn away from Her flaming light and seek a friend most foul. It is a shame, as I thought him most likely to convert.
Let me try and recount from the point of capture:
As I feigned sleep, the others continuously bickered and chattered with the enemy. The guards were so distracted by Valerian’s incessant questioning about his sister’s whereabouts and Mirabelle’s shameless accent that they perhaps mistook as flirtation, that they left our cells practically unguarded.
The vile knaves insulted Our Lady as they left, and mentioned something about lesser deities such as Chantae. In Her name, they will pay for those insults. I liberated two pieces of jewelry from the skeleton in my cell, which I will offer to the church at the next available chance. It is strange, the church of Our Lady of Sacred Flame seems so wealthy but constantly asks for more valuables.
A gigantic eyeball monster watched our every move until Valerian and I took it out with thrown weapons. Mirabelle flew over her cell walls and assisted us with escape, but disaster struck quickly. The key Valerian used on his door melts and burned through his bandages on his right arm. Mirabelle and I tried to help him but he ignored us. Suddenly, I detected evil emanating from the man’s arm as black miasma emerged from his injuries.
As a master of deception, I moved closer to examine it while pretending to offer help. Valerian may have seen through that though, as he begged Mirabelle and I to flee. I began cutting up my blessed vestment robes to help seal his injuries, but Valerian seemed to use some sort of enchanted bandaging. I grabbed up some of his discarded older bandages from the floor of the prison, though the group saw my out-of-character clumsiness while stealthily snatching them.
I will send these bandages to the head priests at the next village we visit and get to the bottom of this. I don’t mind traveling with heathens – I can always convert them – but I refuse to travel with some sort of possessed or evil person…
