1/13/19 PREVIOUSLY ON.. This Bird You Cannot Change
* This week Adam bought a voice synthesizer. It’s a good thing.
* Ham.
* Ham :D.
* JOhn!!!! Oops, sorry, super tired getting a cold or something👃
* Davric runs up to the tentacled pirate bastard, does crazy kung fu hand moves, injures the mind flayer, and then proceeds to shove him off the boat.
* While the mind flayer plummets to the ground, Ulligul fires off 3 magic missiles that heatseek off the boat and connect with the mind flayer mid fall.
* Brumwik tells the remaining two people to “Unhand thee” despite them not holding onto anyone.
* The two people are confused, and then draw their weapons.
* Brumwik proceeds to fire an arrow for each person, and one connects with the skull of Brumwik’s enemy, while the other one misses.
* Balricstein blasts the remaining cthulu pirate, who retaliates with...surrender.
* Billy asks if the pirate allies with the mindflayer, who claims to only remember being at the market.
* Uligul growls something about touching his family.
* Billy ties the pirate’s hands behind his back. The pirate claims to be from a small hamlet outside Valhaven, and Billy trusts him.
* The mindflayer speaks inside the COF’s heads about vengeance for...rectification.
* Several cthulu pirates from the docks begin to rush the ship.
* Despite Billy’s fear or hatred of sailing, Brumrik has enough knowledge to identify the mooring ropes and directs the team to untie one, while he unties two himself.
* The pirate, named FuckOff or Gatzemeyer, hurls orders to set sail.
* Brumrik unties the main sail, but loses control and is pulled up as the sail unfurls.
* Arrows begin to pelt the deck from above as the ship falls downward.
* Ulilgul prepares a magic missile. Balricstein is a wuss and goes below deck.
* Davric inquires about helping, though he doesn’t really want to.
* A canonball strikes the ship, and CoF looks for ways to speed the ship up. After a bit, Gatzemeyer shouts to get the engine started below deck.
* Billy and joins Balricstein below deck and shows him where to start the flame.
* The ship jolts with the engine starting and gains speed, while another canonball just misses the ship.
* Gatzemeyer asks who the captain is, and everyone in Crown of Fire points to someone different. Billy eventually calls Brumrik captain, who seems confused and agrees. Billy scrambles up to the crow’s nest, and the crew sets sail for the wizard’s tower.
* On their journey, they fly over their cloud giant friend who continues to ignore him.
* At the wizard’s tower, there are no docks which the ship can easily dock.
* Looking around the ship for a barrel, CoF finds lemons, limes and….chunks of brains? Also a chest with 12 gems (50gp each), 3 paintings and 2 statues (250gp each), spices in vials, a Wand of the War Mage (+1), Helm of Telepathy, and Gem of Brightness.
* * Billy removes all the lemons and limes from the barrel, and creates a pulley system to pick up some books.
* CoF successfully retrieves 10 books.Some with magical history, some with spell notes. Knowledge is power!
* As they descend to the cloud giant’s castle, Brumrik watches for Narla from the crow’s nest. It’s too foggy, and the castle comes up suddenly but Gatzemeyer handles the ship well and makes a smooth landing.
* Brumrik jumps off the ship, leaving the giant’s book on board, in search of his hippogriff friend.
* Gatzemeyere steers the ship inside the castle and sets it down in the courtyard. Apparently it has a kickstand for landing.
* Upon investigation, the staff has some scrolling text on it.
* Balric touches the staff and reads the instructions written on the staff.
* The group gets back on the boat and begins to take off in order to get back to the front of the house.
* Brumrik finally finds Narla off in the distance, eating what looks like a cat.
* The boat gets to the front and drops a rope ladder down for Brumrik to climb up.
* What sounds like the giant thunders to the ground, and enters his home.
* Billy slides down the rope to the ground, and knocks on the Giant’s door.
* Giant is drunk.
* Billy climbs onto Balricstein’s shoulders to talk to the giant.
* The giant is drunk.
* Billy tries to negotiate assurances that upon CoF helping the giant, he will let this cloud city move freely. Giant seems to think the extra rain helps with crops and cleaning the city. He’s not easy to talk to today.
* After dire, drunk, deliberation, Billy persuades Iseder to move the city if we help.
* Billy calls for Gatzemeyer to bring the gross blanket with book inside to him, who then hands it to the giant.
* Confronted with a stench, the giant steps back, but then invites CoF in for dinner (vultures…) while he peruses Cloud Cities for Dummies.
* The next morning, Iseder is more annoyed than before that CoF is around since he has sobered.
* The Crown of Fire begins the journey back to Valhaven, the sun peaking through the clouds for the first time in decades. What adventure awaits our heros in Valhaven? Find out now in…..THIS BIRD YOU CANNOT TAME or whatever
