# D&D B-Team -- The plot so far…
|
||||
The group heads to Candlekeep, but fight monsters in the woods, setting the nearby woods of Candlekeep ablaze. CoF found a plot of corruption and killed three conspirators. The group then made its way west to take a ship up to Daggerford and cut overland towards Valhavan. Earlier, at an inn on the road heading to the coast, they met Shuja’s former tutor, Rundy. He says there are rumors of cheating and worse at this year’s annual championship dragonchess tournament. The inn is attacked by bandits, but CoF fights them off with the help of the tutor’s bodyguard Ungvar. The tutor died though, so Ungvar joins the CoF to protect Shuja as he wished. They are going to get FUCD (the Federal United Conference of Dragonchess), in the city of Fizzulp which is between Valhavan and Daggerford. They continue the journey and see two knolls on the path, who flee after seeing them, thinking CoF are bandits. They find a merchant, Alan, stranded with a broken cart. They fail to fix the cart and actual bandits appear. The merchant panics and runs off into the forest. The group tries to chase after him but he is captured by the bandits. Inferis spiderwalks to the top of the tallest tree in the forest near them, but can only see other trees. After trying to inspire herself, her wild magic surges and she accidentally casts fireball on herself, nearly killing herself. She also sets the trees and forest on fire doing so. Meanwhile, Shuja commands the last bandit kidnapping Alan to halt, and he is magically bound. After interrogating him, Ungvar beheads the frozen-in-place bandit. The CoF follows them back to their hideout and kills all of them, but fail to save the merchant. Finally at the coast, they bluff their way onto a ship heading north, saying they will pay on arrival. During the travel, the ship passes a wreck. Captain Jarlax says “Why, it is the old Speedwell! We have to bring her back with us. Would make us a fortune.” The ship is heavily damaged by powderburn, resulting from explosions and saltwater, but its name is still visible. The air is foul and heavy. There are 16 decomposing corpses on the ship -- most charred. All armaments destroyed or looted. Someone has already salvaged the helm. Plenty of ammunition on board but no treasure. Ship is salvageable. If brought along, would slow ship but could be sold for 4,000 GP at any seaport. The CoF decide to cut the ship loose in the night so they don’t lose time. They hide it near the coast where they can find it to later sell. After the captain finds out and gets angry, the CoF instigate a mutiny through persuasion. The crew break into the captain’s quarters at night, kill him and dump him overboard. When CoF arrive at port in Daggerford, Infaris calls on an underworld contact she knows and sells him the ship, and he says he will take the crew too and pays her more. It is unknown if she understood what she just did.
